Opportunities to participate in a range of meaningful activities in the community are important to the experience of occupational justice for people with disabilities and older people. When mobilizing or travelling to out-of-home places, people may experience a number of challenges and discriminations based on their age, (dis)abilities, gender, race or ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Vignettes are illustrative stories or snapshots that can enable people with disabilities and older adults to articulate the intersectional barriers to community mobility and participation that they experience. Vignettes drawn from personal and collective narratives can also enable students and professionals to explore relatively tough sociological concepts like intersectionality in a more relevant way. The aim of this project is to develop vignettes with people with disability and older adults in three countries to illustrate their experiences of community mobility and participation in society; and to use these vignettes as an interprofessional educational resource across countries.
